Profile: The 2010 season will be the first for head coach Scott Womble. Womble formerly coached the basketball team for six years (02-03 to 07-08) guiding the Soldiers to their first ever national tournament appearance in 05-06, gaining regional coach of the year honors along the way. His Soldiers had back to back 20 win seasons and set 11 school records.
After a one year absence from coaching, Womble is refreshed and up to the challenge of taking the baseball team to the next level. Womble says that regardless of what sport he coaches, his beliefs remain the same. “Sound fundamentals, mental and physical preparation, and enthusiasm remain at the core of our focus.”
In addition to coaching baseball at SLCC, Womble serves as Professor of Biblical Studies and the Adults in Ministry Coordinator. He and his wife, Lisa, are in the midst of planting a new church called The Merge. Womble has also authored a book and is a regular book reviewer for the Stone-Campbell Journal. |
