Parents, did you Know?
Finding the right college for your
children is tough. As a parent, you can't help but
notice the stacks of mail from college recruiters,
all trying to convince your child to come to their
school. How will you and your child decide on
a college that suits your needs and desires? After
all, it is the place where he or she will choose
a career, establish his or her own life values, and
possibly meet his or her future spouse.
As a Christian parent, you want your child to be safe physically, emotionally and spiritually. You want him or her to stay "plugged in" to the church, to grow in Christ, but not to grow away from you!
At Saint Louis Christian College, we want the same for your son or daughter. We believe we offer a great place to grow in the development of spiritual gifts, faith, and service to the Lord and His church. We offer a first-rate Christian education at affordable prices in a safe community. We offer Christian vocation career options, as well as education for life.
Advantages students have at SLCC:
- For its size, Florissant is
rated as the safest city in the United States.
- The faculty, staff, and administrators are committed Christians.
- The faculty has an average of more than 25 years of teaching experience, and are demonstrated leaders in their fields.
- With an enrollment of approximately 300 students, we can give lots of individual attention.
- Because of our location, jobs are plentiful.
- Because of our metropolitan regional location, opportunities to serve in churches and church-related settings are in abundance.
- Because of our proximity to many colleges and universities, a student can dually enroll at SLCC and other schools in the area.
As part of SLCC's academic programs to prepare students for a lifetime of ministry, students are enrolled in the Ministry Advancement Program
(MAP) every semester they are in attendance at the college. The MAP program is graded on a pass/fail basis and will appear on student
transcripts.
The Ministry Advancement Program is a service learning model. Students will serve on campus, in churches, and in community organizations in order
to gain practical ministry experience. At some phases of the program, the service commitment can average five or more hours per week. It is
important to keep this in mind when planning course schedules and other time commitments. This service will be a vital learning link between the
classroom and students' ultimate ministry goals. Upon graduation, students will have a variety of guided ministry experiences and be well-equipped
for the ministries to which they are called.

In addition to receiving a top quality education for a Christian ministry vocation, your young person will be better equipped for life, no matter what his or her job may be in the future. The strong foundation in Biblical education and ministry skills, as well as the grounding in general education courses, helps prepare a student for any career/vocation, even if the choice is not a paid ministry vocation.
We do more than educate for a paycheck. We educate for life.
Experiences with us, as well as the skills developed, will serve him or her well, no matter what the actual career or life situation becomes. The Bible and its principles is still the most practical book for living. And in our Christian community your student will be encouraged to develop spiritually through chapel services, dorm and personal devotions, and in field education experiences. Your student will also meet weekly with a small group where there is accountability and spiritural growth. We don't just talk about service and evangelism. We show a student how and give opportunities to put education into action.
The specializations for which we offer degrees are listed in our catalog and in the prospective student channel. Your student can leave SLCC with a bachelor's degree in one of these areas and expect to be employed by a church or church organization. But perhaps your young person thinks God is calling him or her to another area of service. Why should he or she come to SLCC? Again, consider that the one, two, or four years spent here will get him or her off to a good start on a Christian campus, better equipped for life, while also helping to prepare for another area of study, if that is the choice. Often, students complete the two-year associate's program and enroll in a bachelor's program at another school to finish a program in nursing, education, business, or other fields.
With a broad base of education in Biblical and theological studies, ministry courses, and study in science and the Humanities, our students do well in graduate schools. Our programs work particularly well with master's programs in counseling, education, psychology, social work, theology, and ministry to name a few. Because of this broad based education our students also do well in jobs/careers for which there is no "formal" education program that is a prerequisite.
